Mayta Cohen is a national award winning arranger, vocalist, composer, and prayer leader from Boston, MA, who specializes in infusing Jewish music with vocal harmony. Founder and director of national award winning group “BerKalit,” the first Jewish a cappella group at Berklee College of Music, Mayta’s arrangements bridge the gap between contemporary a cappella and religious music, garnering her accolades from the likes of “ASMAC,” “The American Conference of Cantors,” and “Jewish Rock Radio.” With a world-wide reach, Mayta has won “Outstanding Soloist” at the “International Championship of A Cappella Open” and performed with the 5-month international tour of “Up With People: Live on Tour.” Her arrangements have been sung by critically acclaimed vocal groups such as “Six13” and “Shul Sisters,” and she is the creative mind behind the “ACA-Education Podcast” theme song. Beyond arranging and composing, Mayta is a renowned innovator in the world of Jewish Music, serving on faculty at the premiere conference of Jewish songleading, “Hava Nashira,” and facilitating prayer experiences through a cappella at synagogues across the country.
